Senior Software Engineering Manager, Remote

Brio Digital is working with a leading product-based company based throughout the UK, providing critical software solutions that benefit us all. 

Due to growth, they're looking to hire a new software engineering manager to manage a team of 50 cross-functional engineers. The team is responsible for functional software development, and your role will vary, ensuring this leading product's success.

What you will be doing;

Leading a team of Software Development Engineers responsible for the particular technology to build the features the business needs in a quality way.

Setting and defining standards and best practices along with implementing improvements to tooling.

Monitoring the product across streams and ensuring platform capabilities are developed in a consistent approach.

A trusted expert who is responsible for building up the right capabilities for their people, equipping them with the skills, tools, and standard approaches to deliver technical excellence

Monitoring technical debt within the platform and ensuring this is well documented.

Independently solves complex technical problems.

Work with third-party providers where necessary, offering direction, support, and documentation.

Creating business justifications for when and why platforms need upgrading and presenting these to Product Owners & Stakeholders when necessary in an articulate manner for an audience that may not be technical.

What you need to bring; 

A confident technical leader with experience in a fast-paced agile environment 

Experience developing & motivating those in your team by providing clear direction, opportunities for learning & direct coaching.

An understanding of deadlines, budget constraints, and scope of delivery and experience working 

An understanding of how to make our engineering better: improving delivery predictability and speed, operational awareness and responsibility.

Knowledge of and an understanding of how to improve Resiliency, Accessibility, Security and Compliance.
