My client are a Cheltenham-based software house with 18 staff that provides a business management portal to exam boards and awarding bodies, and bespoke application development services across a number of sectors.
They require an individual to work in the team with the primary role of technical product support and product installations. The role may also involve coding, as the solutions to problems sometimes require software patches and fixes.
Role - Support Engineer
Location - Cheltenham - Hybrid - 1 day a week office based
Salary £30k - £35k
What will I be doing ?
You will be working with customers/employees to identify system problems and advising on the solution whilst logging and keeping records
Analysing call logs so you can spot common trends and underlying problems
Updating documentation so customers/employees can try to fix problems themselves
Liaison with customer
Software development
Database analysis
Installations
Testing
Technical skills:
Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services
Windows-based applications
Web-based applications
IIS
TFS
C#.NET (ideally)
Required non-technical skills
As well as a strong technical background, the successful applicant will have good communication skills. This is key in a help-desk environment as it is necessary to explain complex information in simple, clear terms to a non-IT personnel.
Additional non-technical skills include;
Logical thinker
Good analytical and problem solving skills
Good interpersonal and customer care skills
Good accurate records keeping
