Role Description
We are currently looking for an Information Security Engineer to complement our managed services team.
Answering to the Technical Director and working alongside the IT services team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day security of internal and customer systems. This will include:
· Working closely with the NETbuilder IT services team and customers to implement and manage security best practises and proactive security measures
· Performing vulnerability scans and assessing and remediating any vulnerabilities (with assistance from the IT services team)
· Assisting with ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials controls and compliance for NETbuilder and its customers
· Responding to security incidents and breaches
· Developing KPIs to monitor and report on the effectiveness of the implemented security measures and related processes
· Designing and architecting security solutions for NETbuilder and its customers
· Having awareness of emerging security threats and proposing solutions and techniques to counter security threats and malicious activity
This is a varied role that requires a strong team player with a diverse range of IT skills and disciplines. A proactive, dynamic approach to information security and a strong desire for ongoing learning and self-improvement is essential.
This is a full-time role covering Monday to Friday 9am to 5:30pm with a balanced mix of home working. Occasional out of hours cover and onsite presence may be required.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a satisfactory criminal record check and continued employment will be subject to satisfactory references.
You will need to live in a commutable distance of the office (Wigan WN3).
Candidate requirements
Essential
· In-depth IT infrastructure experience
· In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in different security disciplines, including firewalls, UTM, endpoint security solutions, etc
· Experience with vulnerability scanning, ideally with Tenable Nessus or similar products
· Experience with log correlation tools, SIEM and applicable tools, ideally with OSSEC/Wazuh
· Experience with cloud services and their associated security controls
· Experience with incident response planning
· Experience in designing and architecting security solutions
· CompTIA Security+, CEH, or other applicable security accreditations (working towards may be considered depending upon experience)
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Full, clean driving license
Desirable
· ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials controls and compliance experience
· Knowledge of risk assessment tools, technologies and methodology
