Due to a restructure within the organisation we are now looking for a Systems Engineer to join Saint Gobain Technical Services team. This is a perm role to be based from our office in Huddersfield or East Leake (Loughborough)

Your New role

The purpose of the role is to provide on-site / remote support for the Saint-Gobain P2 Datacentres, cloud hosting, key sites and systems. Responsible for support and administration activities on a variety of IT hardware, software applications and validating data integrity. The role includes ensuring successful backup and recovery processes, lifecycle management of these products and regular capacity planning

On a day to day you'll provide proactive management of backup systems and processes and collaborate with the appropriate teams to resolve the failures in a timely and efficient manner.

You'll have excellent troubleshooting skills which means that from a Problem Management perspective, investigations are targeted in the correct areas. This is where hands on experience of VM and exposure to Networking will be key to a successful applicant.

You can also expect to produce capacity planning reports on back up infrastructure and provide analysis and findings on a regular basis, monitor and action active system alerts from a variety of applications and follow escalation paths as well as plan and perform lifecycle management processes on necessary infrastructure and backup software.

What you need to be successful

In order to be successful in this role, this individual will have experience with Enterprise Backup software such as Veritas NetBackup, IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM), Acronis etc deployments in a large scale organisation as well as experience within Capacity Planning.

Someone who is well organised with the ability to manage your own tasks and work with minimum supervision as well as demonstrating excellent initiative, ownership and curiosity. You'll also likely have an understanding of operating systems such as Linux, Windows, VMWare etc and some good experience and understanding of Networking.
