The Principal Business Analyst is a key role that sits on the Hiscox UK Retail change leadership team and holds responsibility for developing and leading the team of Business Analysts and owning and leading the Business Analysis Chapter.
In this role you'll have accountability for the methods, standards, processes and deliverables for Business Analysis across Hiscox UK ensuring that the talented team of Business Analysts in the UK are all highly engaged members of the BA Chapter with a focus on continuous improvement, driving the quality of business analysis across the change portfolio and leading the team to ever higher performance.
You'll work collaboratively with other chapter leads across Change and Technology teams to constantly improve how we deliver change to the UK business.,.
When needed, this role will also be hands on, especially in helping to shape and define new change ideas and initiatives. You'll be someone who understands the "business side" of Insurance as well as being comfortable working with technology.

Our projects can be driven by process improvement, integration of new ventures and delivery of regulatory requirements. The outputs of the projects can vary from large scale system delivery and upgrades to smaller, tactical solutions that open up business opportunities.
What you'll be doing:
Leading and motivating a team of high-performing Business Analysts through empowering and inspiring them to deliver successful change, providing timely feedback and coaching, ensuring high performance from and assuring the quality of work done
Responsible for recruitment of business analysts and ensure the skills within the team meet the different project requirements
Delivering formal performance reviews, celebrating hard work, individual and team success
Leading and developing the Business Analysis Chapter and be the gateway to the BA team for the wider business. Part of which is raising awareness of the BA role among business stakeholders.
Helping to embed a new Agile change model across Hiscox UK
Owning and develop the team's analysis toolkits and methodologies
Portfolio resource management for the BA team - own and act as the gatekeeper for all Business Analyst resource requests, and, where necessary, manage and escalate any conflicts to ensure the wellbeing of the team
Analysis of pipeline opportunities & scope definition for new change initiatives
Helping to define the process for benefit measurement
Where required, performing the role of a Business Analyst, typically on major programmes
Taking a keen interest in self-learning and upskilling to ensure a strong understanding of BA, insurance and technology trends and build new skills in line with the pace of change
Maintaining a close working relationship with Project Management, IT & PMO colleagues and work with them to lead the transformation of the UK Change agenda and supporting Change & Technology operating model
Our must haves:
Proven experience as a lead/senior/principal business analyst
Experience of people management, a passion for leading, coaching and developing a team of Business Analysts and driving to high performance
Experience working on large, complex projects or programmes in a lead analyst role
Experience operating in a challenging organisational environment with a requirement to balance differing priorities and demands whilst ensuring that change management disciplines are maintained
Experience using Business Analysis tools, techniques and methodologies in a mix of delivery methodologies - including Agile
A passion for Change and the value Change brings to the business
Able to build strong working relationships across the business & technology
Able to motivate and positively influence individuals and groups
Accomplished in Agile methodologies
Exceeds at stakeholder management skills
Exceptional communication skills
Our nice to haves:
Financial services or insurance industry experience
Experience of working with digital channels / automation and/or Insurance policy administration software
Experience of leading a community of practice / chapter and helping to embed new capabilities and ways of working
Ideally a certified Product Owner
