We are looking for a dynamic person with an interest in data collation and analysis to work in Surrey County Council's Corporate Performance Insights team. The Council is in a period of unprecedented change and this role will support the ongoing transformation. The Finance & Performance Insights service lies at the heart of the council's decision-making, and the postholder will need to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
The role and work are varied, you will need to interpret data and information to provide quality performance insights for the leadership team and elected members. You will be expected to be a key contact for Surrey's 'Business Intelligence Community of Practice', a network of insight professionals with the aim of improving performance standards and practice, as well as implementing the Council's performance operating model and embedding a positive performance culture across the organisation.
Duties for this role will include:
* Manage the development and presentation of performance reports, utilising data visualisation tool and dashboard technology (excel, powerpoint and Tableau desirable)
* Coordinate the corporate performance management approach, ensuring robust data quality arrangements are in place.
* Collect and analyse performance data and intelligence, identifying trends to inform improvement.
* Liaise with others to obtain performance information and an ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues across the Council.
* Work with teams across the council to analyse, recommend and implement improvements to processes and systems to deliver continuous improvement
* Support the development and embedding of a performance culture throughout the council.
Key skills required for the position:
* Experience of working with a range of data and producing performance reports
* Experience of manipulating complex databases at a local or national level to produce high quality reports.
* Understanding of the key strategic issues (and statutory frameworks) facing local government, the wider public sector and partners (desirable).
* An ability to use your initiative, be able to work flexibly and deliver to tight deadlines
* That you are a highly effective team player with excellent organisational and coordination skills
* Excellent communication skills - both written and oral
* Strong IT skills (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Tableau desirable)
