Cloud Architect

Manchester, Stockport, Nottingham - Ideally but not essential

Home Based - Home-based. There will be an expectation that the role works from home predominately but there is an expectation of team meet ups

We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced Cloud Architect to join our expanding healthcare technology team. In this customer-facing role, you will work alongside our talented team to develop solutions to meet our NHS clients’ requirements. You will be building solutions to deliver the right clinical data at the right time and place for a specific and targeted use case to support the direct care of patients within the NHS.

You will focus on Cloud infrastructure development throughout all phases of the development lifecycle and must be able to troubleshoot and anticipate errors during each step.

Accountabilities:

The key accountabilities of the post holder will be to:

· Work as an integral part of our team developing healthcare solutions to meet our client’s needs.

· Understand client objectives, develop solutions architecture and advise on best practice.

· Ensure that software engineering best practice is followed including appropriate testing and documentation.

· Maintenance of infrastructure codebase including the identification and tracking of technical debt as well as any required mitigations.

· Actively identify risks to the solution and advise upon and where necessary implement required mitigations.

Responsibilities:

Strategy and Development

· Understand the client vision, the overall scope, and how to best achieve client requirements.

· Gather accurate requirements and work closely with stakeholders to prioritize tasks and the scope of development.

Management of People and Resources

· Support the Solutions architect and Data architect in the solution design, delivery and implementation.

· Support the project manager in identifying work items, dependencies, blockers and accurate estimations to facilitate project planning and managing client expectations.

· Contribute to the pre-planning and discovery phases of the lifecycle including task definition and estimation.

· Support the development of Sprint iteration concept as an advocate of agile principles.

· Support Sprint planning and the delivery of sprint goals

Delivery

· Contribute to architecture to provide solutions that meet client needs while balancing cost effectiveness, scalability, availability, and security.

· Contributing to all phases of the development lifecycle.

· Writing well designed, testable, efficient code including appropriate unit testing and documentation

· Assist in defining user stories and features.

· Ensure components follow standards, industry best practice and meet objectives.

· Support preparation and production of releases

· Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review.

Compliance and Risk

· Ensure that there is commitment to high standards in IT / human interaction.

· Ensure Compliance with industry standards including Data Protection Security toolkit, ISO27001 and GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) guidelines.

Relationships

· To build extensive relationships with client teams as well as internal technical teams.

· Develop and build relationships with

· Attend team meetings, board, and committee meetings as required, including the potential for travel where necessary.

· Be an enthusiastic advocate for our values.

· Promote innovation both in use of new technologies and in working with teams to implement processes that streamline the development lifecycle as well as our own internal processes.

· Be administratively self-supporting, e.g., take care of own diary management, scheduling meetings etc.

· Maintain own professional networks and promote on a local and national level.

· Undertake any other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the post.

Person Specification:

Essential

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

· Development experience of Terraform

· Development experience of Kafka and Kubernetes implementation

· Architecture lead of Microservices API

· Familiarity with AWS / Azure products services and implementation

· Experience with liaising with Client networking and support teams

· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field

· 5+ years of experience in the IT field, preferably in a corporate setting

Desirable

· Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE): Cloud Platform and Infrastructure.

· Amazon Web Services Certified Solutions Architect.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

· Extensive knowledge of best practice and methodologies in design and execution of development tasks.

· Excellent troubleshooting skills

· Meeting with the development team to discuss user interface ideas and applications.

Desirable

· Azure Dev-ops pipeline services

· Development language
