Title: CAD Engineer (Tooling Specialism)

Salary: up to £45,000 (flexibility depending on experience)

SRG is working with an innovative engineering organisation who produce highly advanced and technical products for a variety of industries such as aerospace, security and defence across the world. They are now looking for a CAD Engineer to join the team in Stevenston on a permanent basis.

The primary role of the CAD Engineer is to design, develop and support products to meet customer expectations and comply with all relevant specifications and standards. The role will take a holistic approach to product design and development in a mechanical, electrical and chemical engineering environment, taking into account factors such as safety, cost, ease of manufacture and through life support.

The position will be site based in Stevenson. The role will be 36 hours per week with a 4.5 day working week and half day Friday.

Responsibilities:

Producing designs, 3D models, simulation, FEA, and 2D technical drawings using SolidWorks.

The assessment and derivation of design solutions using appropriate modelling and calculations.

Prototype and evaluate designs using external suppliers and in house 3D printing capability.

Carry out this work within product development and tooling, jigs, and fixtures design.

Responsible for the creation of design documentation including specifications, design calculations, models, technical reports, simulation/modelling reports, etc.

Up-keep of configuration control using PDM, SolidWorks Vault, and manual drawing lists.

Support the design and conduct of safe trials and tests.

Requirements:

Degree in an Engineering discipline or relevant experience.

Experience using CAD to design and develop tooling, jigs and fixtures.

Proficient in Solidworks and Solidworks PDM Setup

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead discussions with customers and stakeholders

Desirable:

A background using DfM, DfSS, DMAIC or other improvement-driven philosophies.

Experience of getting the best out of 3D printing technology (plastics and/or glass/carbon filled materials)
