The Senior Network Engineer is a technical role working as part of our clients Infrastructure and Network Team to implement, operate and maintain a wide range of network and security systems on behalf of both internal and external clients.
You will work closely with the Information Security Team, assisting and advising in driving forward improvements and capabilities which assist the evolution of their security systems and procedures.
The role is offered on a hybrid working basis - it is predominately remote but you will need to visit our clients Exeter office (Devon) once or twice per month. Being based a commutable distance to/from Exeter is preferred and you will on occasions be required to visit other UK offices and data centres for managing incidents. A driver's licence is therefore required.
You will also need to be comfortable with some out of hours working as there is also an on-call rota to joined once up to speed.
The role will involve the following: -
Evaluating, designing, planning, and implementing transformational change to network infrastructure.
Keeping up to date with technology trends and assessing the improvements that can be made to the infrastructure in line with Security audit outcomes.
Collaborating with the Application and Infrastructure team members on networking, security design and optimisation in new or redevelopment opportunities.
Innovating based on an understanding of the business and its direction to build case for new technologies, processes, and network strategy.
Carrying out technical operations of the LAN/WAN including configuration and deployment, monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting, audition and log management, and upgrade and supporting of all network systems.
Keeping documentation up-to-date and, where required, assist in the provision of training and support to users; ensuring housekeeping procedures are adhered too.
About You
To be successful working as the Senior Network Engineer with our client you will have proven experience in a similar role and you will be an expert in network design and implementation in a medium sized enterprise network operating next generation firewalls. You will also have excellent working knowledge of a range of network equipment, to include network changes, code upgrades, hardware fault diagnoses and replacement.
You will also have the following experience: -
Ideally you will be Fortinet (NSE 7) and Cisco certified (CCNP and/or CCNP Security)
Experience with Nexus 9K data centre switches is desirable but is NOT essential.
Microsoft AZ-500 Security Engineer certification is highly desirable but is NOT essential.
Experience in troubleshooting and be able to analyse problems and conduct effective fault diagnosis and system recovery.
Varied IT related background: Multi data centre enterprise environments with branch office deployments, virtualisation, Cloud, SaaS/IaaS/PaaS, AWS and Azure.
You will be a self-starter who can motivate team members.
Able to confront controversial or difficulty issues in an objective manner.The role comes with an excellent benefits package: -
