Job Description

Do you want to work for a company whose purpose is to improve society by considering social outcomes, and to transform businesses, communities, and opportunities for it's employees? Mott MacDonald is a global consultancy whose people do exactly that.

We are looking for an experienced business analyst to explore and shape strategic opportunities and solutions for capability investment. Capability is defined as the people, processes and systems required to support our diverse organisation. You will have prior experience in business analysis (ideally strategic business analysis) and be familiar with business analysis tools and techniques. An exposure to project management tools and methodologies would also be helpful. You will need excellent analytical ability and have skills in holistic thinking, communication and customer engagement.

Please note that this is a strategic business analysis role that will provide exposure to many different functions within the business. While IT knowledge is beneficial, and there will be some coverage of IT systems, this role does not sit within the IT department and should be considered a broader business role.

Reporting to the Principal Capability Analyst you will:
Work with key stakeholders to understand the business problem or opportunity and create project briefs to outline the approach to a piece of analysis.

Carry out strategic business analysis relating to capability problems or investment opportunities. This will involve understanding the as-is and desired to-be situation, conducting market research and competitor analysis, and presenting options (including cost models) with a clear evidence-based recommendation for the way forward.
Create papers or presentations for senior/executive review, upon which key decisions will be taken.
Contribute to the development of outline and detailed business cases for project work that may arise from the analysis.
Engage with stakeholders to influence project and investment decisions and help to assess the risks and opportunities of various solutions.
For analyses that are taken forward into projects, you may be required to work with stakeholders to elicit and define high-level functional and non-functional requirements for business systems, to define and document success criteria or to provide project assurance.

As and when required:
Conduct complex data analysis in order to answer a business question or to provide information to support decision-making.
Support the Principal Capability Analyst in the development of best practice for strategic business analysis, requirements definition and management, and business case development
Contribute to the maintenance of the analysis backlog, understanding and documenting the 'exam question' to be answered, the future vision and scope and exclusions for new items added.
