Our client is seeking to appoint an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join their expanding technical team.

Applicants are required to have had proven technical project design and implementation experience with server/desktop virtualisation offerings from VMware, Citrix and Microsoft and exposure to cloud technologies. Ideally the candidate with have a strong understanding of networking and have a good amount of experience in customer facing hands-on design and implementation preferably working within an IT reseller environment.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated with the ability to identify priorities and manage multiple workloads and projects. Attention to detail is a must with a methodical and professional approach to solution design and implementation.

The role will be based in our Gloucester office but may require some travel to our Customer sites throughout the UK.

The key responsibilities for this role include:

Responsible for ensuring the successful provision, management, support, and maintenance across all of the infrastructure platform (compute, network, storage) that makes up the company’s internal functions and Managed Service offerings.

Subject matter expertise and act as a 3rd Line escalation point for technical incident and problem management.

Instigate and orchestrate changes to the infrastructure systems, in line with the company and Customer specific change control processes.

Facilitate, contribute to and in some instances lead, the delivery of technical projects and work packages for the company and its customers.

Comply with all company and ISO policies, audit, and legal requirements such as Health & Safety, Data Protection Act, etc.

            Implementing and supporting the below core technologies:

Data Integrity & Protection (Backups, Replication & Encryption)

TCP/IP, VLAN, switching, routing and firewall configuration, VPN and WAN environments

Security Platforms (Firewalls, Proxy Servers, VPN, Antivirus)

Backup technologies

Storage Platforms

Server Virtualisation

Endpoint Provision, Security.

The Infrastructure Engineer should have extensive and demonstrable experience of use, deployment, and support of the following systems and platforms:

VMware ESXi

Microsoft Hyper-V

SAN Technologies (HPE 3Par, Nimble, Dell Unity, SC)

Windows Server 2019, 2016 and 2012

Citrix NetScaler Gateway

Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp

TCP/IP, VLAN, switching, routing and firewall configuration, VPN and WAN environments

Microsoft Clustering technologies

Microsoft Office 365

Active Directory, ADFS, Group Policy and Certificate Services

Corporate wireless systems such as Cisco Meraki & HPE Aruba

Backup technologies such as Veeam/Arcserve
