We seek a highly skilled and motivated IT Specialist to join our client in the Gloucester area. The ideal candidate will provide technical support for all aspects of our business technology, including computer systems (hardware and software), network infrastructure, telecommunications circuits, mobile devices, telephone systems, and audio-visual equipment.

Responsibilities:

* Ensure that the IT infrastructure and required software applications are always fit for purpose across the business

* Define the data, how it will be stored and retrieved, who will access the data, how data is maintained, protected, distributed, security of the data and systems and defining the hardware and software to be used to operate the system

* Administer data and network security for departments including system firewalls, antivirus, group policy and email security

* Maintain the businesses on site servers and computers, links between sites, remote workers, etc.

* Install, monitor and maintain IT equipment and prepare and configure computers from factory settings to users’ requirements

* Support daily desktop, server and network technology by troubleshooting and problem solve of any IT issues, supporting and training where necessary

* Educate the users on how the systems function and how to use hardware and software

* Monitor and optimize the performance, security, and recovery of the database Oversee and monitor the company’s backup systems and IT disaster recovery planning

* Create status reports as required and present findings to senior management

* Liaise with third party contractors and engineers to ensure remedial and improvement works are carried out to a high standard, in accordance with legislation, regulations and best practice and to ensure value for money

* Lead IT project work with responsibility for the solution, delivery and timescales

Requirements:

* Proven experience as an IT Specialist or similar role from a food manufacturing background would be highly desirable

* Expertise in computer systems, network infrastructure, telecommunications circuits, mobile devices, telephone systems, and audio-visual equipment

* Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team

* Flexibility to work outside normal business hours when required

* Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks

* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
