About FICC Risk & Pricing Technology
FICC Risk & Pricing Technology sits within Markets Pre-Trade and provides strategic and Subject Matter Expert (SME) direction and governance regarding the delivery of Processes, Technology, Operations and Programme Management. We are the team responsible for providing Risk and Pricing capabilities primarily to the Investment Bank business units for multiple asset classes (Rates Linear, Rates Options, FX, Credit, Margin, COU, Portfolio Management etc). We are also accountable for applying instrument valuations and risk metrics to positions held by the trading desk across a variety of products. Intraday, Trading should be able to easily identify their risk exposures and real time P&L in a user interface. After market hours, the same data is provided to downstream clients such as Market Risk and Finance. In short our Front Office Technology provides key data that is essential for measuring Barclay's VaR and trading PnL. The team comprises c.1,100 colleagues operating across the UK, US, India and Czech Republic. We support over 100 applications and a user base that spans all Business Units, legal entities and major geographic hubs of the bank. A key goal of FICC Risk & pricing Technology is to ensure that we approach problems in a cross-functional manner and deliver sustainable solutions to support our data, technology and process transformations.
Overall purpose of role
To define UX strategy and drive UI delivery for key applications in FICC Risk & Pricing. Primary focus to support the externalisation of Derivative Risk Uncleared Margin (DRUM) UI for client roll-out, review the strategy and support the delivery of Collateral Attribution System (CAS) UI standardisation for Collateral Optimisation business users and for Portfolio Management IT applications with User Interface. The role will act as advisory on strategy & technology across the applications in FICC Risk & Pricing and be the key point of contact for FICC Risk & Pricing engagement with CTO wide UX/UI technology initiatives.
Key Accountabilities
- Work with the Margin/DRUM delivery team (BTB & RTB), the Business and handful of Clients on the design and implementation of the DRUM UI in order to make it available to external clients as a Barclays service.
- Work with the Collatoral Optimisation Unit delivery team (BTB & RTB) and the Business on a review, design and implementation of the next generation COU interfaces (includes 4 applications).
- Work with the Portfolio Management IT delivery team (BTB & RTB) and the Business on a review, design and implementation of the next generation PAR Web interface (is already in prod parallel but is in need of expert advise), as well as all PM IT apps with Uis.
- Engage with FICC Risk & Pricing Directors on UX/UI strategy across the core applications and input into the suite of Architecture Roadmaps for the UX/UI layer.
- Define a UI/UX engagement model with the application teams and promote the best in class UX/UI development practices, tools, UI Components, security.
- Work across GTIS, CTO, technology leads in CIB Tech & Risk Finance & Treasury to help drive a common vision for UX/UI strategy, support as advisory where needed e.g. Market risk.
- Identify UX/UI CoPs and represent FICC Risk & Pricing in global forum.
Stakeholder Management and Leadership
FICC Risk & Pricing is a trusted partner to the business. As such the role holder will be part of a team responsible for delivering complex front-to-back initiatives for a broad range of stakeholders. The role holder will support the team to define and implement UX/UI strategy across the core applications, with particular focus on externally and front-office facing applications.

The role holder will be expected to act with appropriate autonomy and authority, owning their decisions and leading the organisation through transparent, inclusive decision-making and prioritisation processes as needed.
Risk and Control Objective
Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.
Person Specification
The role holder will benefit from a solid grounding in the fundamentals of front office technology, have hands-on experience of User Experience and User Interface design, build, technology strategy/tooling will have the necessary broad range of programme/project management delivery experience and gravitas to manage a dynamic set of deliverables and stakeholders under time and cost pressures.
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
Experience having established design strategy and roadmap for UX in a previous organisation
Designed & implemented web applications for front office, risk & pricing, margin et al across various Business areas including custom data visualisations and internal knowledge management tools
Developed successful internal communications and collaboration strategy with COO
Produced detailed analysis of daily business processes to unearth pain points and product opportunities using user research
Experience using R&A Design Language based on Atomic Design techniques
Broad Project Management skill set
Experience of managing technology and process change in global organisations
Ability to simplify, communicate and present complex messages usin Powerpoint as needed
