What will this role involve?

As part of our award-winning team, you’ll help the business become an intelligent, connected organization in order to deliver our digital transformation and turnaround. As part of the Digital Risk Management team, you will help us to ensure that risk is reduced across the business to ensure this becomes a reality, supporting Thames Water in meeting its objectives.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience managing a wide range of risk-related activities, in an innovative, evolving, and exciting Digital environment. Managing a number of stakeholders at different levels in the organization you will utilize a variety of skills to successfully reduce the level of risk across the Digital organization.
The successful candidate will preferably be an experienced Digital/Risk professional, responsible for driving effective risk identification, assessment, management, control, and compliance within Thames Digital. The role requires a person with an understanding of emerging risk trends and risk management best practices, as well as a level of understanding of IT operations. Experience in using a Risk Management tool would be helpful.
Continual Service Improvement (CSI) experience would benefit the potential candidate for this role as continual improvement of the Digital risk management capability is key to the team’s success.
What you will be doing?
Ensuring that risks are proactively identified and assessed and that robust controls and action plans are in place to mitigate individual risks and improve the overall Digital risk profile.
Educating and coaching colleagues on risk management best practices; ensuring effective communication and training on risk policies and procedures.
Ensuring that risk coordinators provide qualitative, regular updates to their risks, actions, and controls.
Leading regular risk forums: reviews, overviews, and workshops.
Providing and presenting required reporting to agreed standards and timelines.
Maintaining an effective working relationship with the Enterprise Risk, Audit & Assurance Teams, attending regular meetings and forums and ensuring that their requirements are met in terms of policies, reporting and improvement initiatives.
Identifying emerging risks through assimilation of information from external sources and the use of emerging risk tools.
Continually working to improve the way Digital identifies and manages risks, both reactively and proactively, through risk identification initiatives, such as risk maturity assessments.
Coordinating internal and external audit activities: ensuring that required data is provided, facilitating the provision of appropriate responses, and developing and tracking of appropriate action plans.
Working with the Digital Transformation Leadership Team to compile the annual Controls Self-Assessment return to the Enterprise Controls & Assurance team and following up on any actions required to increase maturity.

Experience in risk management in a technology environment.
Experience working in or alongside a Digital operational environment.
Practiced stakeholder engagement and management at all levels, including senior levels and external organizations and partners.
Use of MS applications for creating presentations and management reports
Strong planning, communication, and presentation skills.
Well-developed people management skills: the ability to listen, influence, and be pragmatic, while challenging effectively when necessary.
Strong analytical and reporting skillsDesirable skills include:
Experience working in or with a Digital Service Management environment.
A recognized Risk qualification such as MoR or IRM would be an added advantage.
