Salary: £50,430 - £60,195
Main Function of the Post:
Provide leadership, direction, and management of the IT Services within NWSLC, so that the College and the schools within the MAT are effectively supported in their delivery of short and longer-term educational ambitions.
To support the IT Strategic Group in its implementation of both the College/School’s educationally led IT Vision, IT Strategic Plans and Technical Strategy.
To lead the management of all IT resources and contracts, ensuring optimisation.
To co-ordinate all IT activities to ensure the availability of systems, services and data to all stakeholders.
The MAT will be transferring to a new sponsor during the Autumn 2023 so the new post holder will be heavily involved in the transfer to this new provider.
Key Duties:
Developing the Group’s IT vision and strategy in conjunction with the IT strategic Group and translating it into actionable goals.
Provide leadership, direction and management to the IT Team.
Accountable for the smooth delivery and operation of IT services and proactive monitoring of systems performance
Identifying future opportunities and challenges in the IT landscape and developing mitigation strategies where appropriate.
Accountable for ensuring security vulnerabilities are identified and eliminated with strategic solutions
Identifying and recommend new network, service management and technology solutions to improve efficiency and performance
Directing the sourcing and implementation of new software, hardware and licenses in accordance with College Policy and fiscal responsibility.
Responsible for monitoring and managing the IT budgets and provide regular budgetary information to assist in the formulation of capital and revenue funded programmes.
Accountable for the management of IT systems within the organisation including deployment, development, and upgrading
Overseeing the development and enhancement of systems and integrating new systems with existing.
To manage projects and programmes and oversee associated activities.
Formulating and implementing business continuity and disaster recovery plans
Providing expert advice and support as needed
Liaising regularly with the Executive Team and the Senior Management Team, as well as other stakeholders as needed.
To lead on the development of an IT structure that develops expertise and leverages synergies across the College and MAT
To prepare bids for IT facilities from capital equipment expenditure budgets
Other duties, as necessary and where appropriate and commensurate with the pay grade.
Requirements:
Essential
Relevant Degree/level 7 or same level qualification including relevant experience
Full Understanding of ITIL or equivalent certified.
Experienced user of current Microsoft Server/Workstation Operating Systems.
Highly developed knowledge and understanding of Information Technology, Information Security (Cyber) Programme, Project Management and Information systems.
Good understanding of networking concepts.
Ability to develop a range of technical, business and contractual written materials without close supervision for presentation to the IT Strategic Group.
Experience in managing IT procurements including technical specification, tendering and evaluation for contracts. Experience of partnership working with IT providers to deliver complex solutions.
Experience in leading and managing a team through effective organisation and continued professional development, particularly within an ITIL context.
Ability to work flexibly to support major IT issues or upgrades, which are not possible to perform during normal working hours.
Desirable
Microsoft or equivalent understanding of or technical certification.
Prince 2 Practitioner.
Deep understanding of how IT can be used to benefit the educational and operational needs of the College and MAT.
