Position: Junior PHP Laravel Developer
Salary: £30,000-£35,000

The IT development team consists of a Senior SQL Server developer and a PHP developer who report to the UK IT Director. Their primary role is to provide advanced systems, services, and tools, enabling the company to thrive in their respective markets.
Job Description:
They are currently looking for a Junior PHP Laravel Developer to join our IT team based in Surrey. This position is essential to meet the demands of our business in the UK, France, and Germany, ensuring our competitive edge in the market. The ideal candidate should have practical experience in PHP Laravel framework development, enabling them to develop, maintain, and support in-house applications. They will also be responsible for structured data extraction and export for decision-making purposes within the company and the wider group.
Reporting to the UK IT Director, the Junior PHP Laravel Developer will work closely with the Senior PHP and SQL developers on a day-to-day basis. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth and skill development within their experienced IT team, operating in a dynamic development environment and utilising state-of-the-art technologies. Potential future opportunities may involve collaborating on projects with other companies within our group, including the possibility of travel.
Key Responsibilities:
* Contribute to the development, maintenance, and support of our integrated Business Central/Laravel system (referred to as "The Hub").
* Assist in exporting structured management, analytical, and reporting data to other companies within the Group, as well as external systems.
* Collaborate with team members to define, design, and implement new features in existing systems, and potentially contribute to the development of new systems.
* Work in an agile manner, participating in team projects or handling independent tasks.
* Write well-structured, efficient, and secure code, following best practices and documentation standards.
* Troubleshoot and resolve issues during the development process and after deployment.
* Engage in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
* Provide 1st/2nd line support for PHP development-related queries reported through our support helpdesk, following guidance from senior team members and offering appropriate solutions or escalations as required.
* Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in web-based development and cloud-based services.
Requirements:
* Strong practical knowledge of PHP development in a professional setting, preferably with experience in an MVC framework such as Laravel.
* Familiarity with working with APIs and utilising tools like Postman for testing and proof of concept.
* Solid understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
* Proficiency in database querying and development, particularly in SQL Server and MySQL.
* Working knowledge of version control tools such as Git.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
* Excellent attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with various departments, countries, and organizational hierarchies.
* A minimum of A-level qualifications in Computer Science or Mathematics (or equivalent commercial experience).
Preferred qualifications:
* Experience in utilising Agile development methodologies.
* Familiarity with SSRS and Power BI.
* Proficient understanding of software design patterns and architecture principles.
* Knowledgeable in Microsoft Dynamics 365 or other ERP systems.
* Experience with front-end frameworks.
* Ability to grasp business requirements and, as the role evolves, effectively document solutions and procedures.
* Understanding of general business practices, particularly in the order-to-cash process.
* Skilled in creating robust test plans and ensuring quality controls.
