We are currently recruiting for a National Risk Technology Lead to work for Thames Valley Police and be based at Didcot Fire Station, Didcot. Tho there is flexibility with remote working with a view of frequent travel to Thames Valley and other National Locations.
This is a part-time position working 18.50 hours a week over 2.5 days.
PLEASE NOTE DUE TO POLICE VETTING CRITERIA YOU MUST HAVE BEEN RESIDING WITHIN THE UK CONTINUOUSLY FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS.
Job Summary
In this interesting role, you will provide high quality advice and guidance to Violence Reduction Units (VRUs) and police force areas around risk technologies, including effective data sharing for violence reduction. Working closely alongside the technical team within the Thames Valley, you will work to identify and share good practice, working with technical and non-technical roles to embed good ways of working and look for opportunities to innovate and improve.
Your extensive knowledge of violence reduction and public health approaches will come in use as you use them to support areas with their own local strategies and responses.
You will also work to support effective engagement with the Thames Valley Together project, working with senior leaders to ensure they get the best return on their investment of time and/or money in years to come on their own priority areas.
Key Responsibilities
Provide consultancy and support for VRUs and partnerships looking to improve their use of risk technology and partnership data sharing. The post holder would help local partnerships to complete maturity assessments, and would work with strategic partnerships to secure buy-in for additional investment and new ways of working.
Attend and speak at national conferences and meetings, promoting risk technology and data sharing approaches, and speaking to the benefits of a public health approach.
Provide subject matter expertise to national groups including the Home Office and NPCC around violence reduction and data sharing.
Work with the TVT lead to engage strategic partners and deliver high quality briefings about TVT.
Work with partners to understand areas of risk or interest for them, and communicate the benefits of TVT. This part of the role will also help the role holder stay up to date with TVT developments and ensure they can share this across wider audiences.
Person Specification
Senior leader with experience of communicating at a strategic level to a broad partnership, preferably with experience of leading or working within a Violence Reduction Unit
Thorough understanding of public health approaches, violence reduction approaches in the UK and risk technology
Competent and effective IT user with experience of MS Office and also including remote working and associated communication tools (e.g. MS Teams)
Experience of stakeholder management - building strong and effective business relationships alongside demonstrating collaborative working to deliver mutually beneficial results
Confident interpersonal and communication skills with experience of presenting to a range of audiences, both verbally and written, in person and online.
Basic understanding of modern cloud based technical systems, including Microsoft Azure
