A market-leading retail organisation with a strong presence across the UK is seeking a Database Manager to join a dynamic and diverse team. A successful candidate will be responsible for the design, installation, maintenance and development of the database infrastructure. The Database Manager will lead the team responsible for this as well as for backup/ archiving and vendor management. The role itself is operated on a remote basis, but there is a possibility of occasional travel into our clients' Letchworth office.

Key Skills

A suitable candidate will have/ be:

A technical authority with deep experience of database technologies, particularly Oracle.

Excellent knowledge of MS SQL Server.

Strong vendor management capabilities.

Strong understanding of Microsoft Server Operating Systems and Active Directory.

A great leader of technical teams with a successful track record of individual and team development.

Effective at managing and delivering reliable, available and appropriate technology environments.

Effective at driving short-term actions that are consistent with long-term goals.Roles and Responsibilities

A successful candidate will:

Provide technical leadership to the DBA team, contributing to and improving technical strength.

Embed the appropriate governance arrangements to ensure that database technology and services are developed, maintained and supported in line with policy.

Support the development, testing and robust implementation of technologies that enable the delivery of business innovation in line with architecture strategy & roadmap.

Support the development of technology roadmaps for the database domain within the wider Architecture strategy.

Ensure that the technology 'brand' is improved through the creation of strong links with the business and all other technology department teams.This role may suit candidates, who hold the following job titles: Database Manager, Senior Database Engineer, Data Manager, DBA Manager
