What you'll be doing: - Management of a highly specialised team of welding engineers and technicians
- Ensuring technical mentoring within the department
- Working with Multiple stakeholders including Rolls Royce, departmental managers, and the MOD
- Responsible for the Welding Authority, Governance meetings and Research
- Direct work involving Welding Research
Your skills and experience Essential: - Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science/Materials Engineering or Welding
- Detailed experience and knowledge of welding processes, qualification and certification
- Knowledge of Structural and Pipe welding
- Worked with, or lead, UKAS laboratory environments
- Lead teams of specialists
Desirable: - Understanding of Submarine business
- Chartered Engineer - IOM 3 or TWI Institute

The team is growing, and we need a manager who has lead a larger team of 20+ specialists who focus on all types of materials and joining used in our production process. We assist in supplier development, supplier qualification and undertake research into all things within the Materials, Joining, Coating and Corrosion fields, such as Additive Manufacturing.

The Materials Technology Team: The Materials Technology Centre is a group of highly specialised teams that employ qualified and experienced metallurgists, welding engineers, and non-metallic material specialists. These combine the theoretical and practical application of materials science to set material strategy and policy across a wide range of materials and production processes for both submarine projects and adjacent business. The materials technology centre undertakes and sponsors research activities to ensure we are on the cutting edge of martials sciences. This is a growing team with large scope for development and career advancement.
