If you do, then we're looking for someone just like you to join Technology and Data's Customer Payments team as a Product Manager.
With London's population set to hit the 10 million mark by 2030, keeping them, and the millions more who visit the capital each year moving, will be key to ensuring the city remains a world-class destination. Our job in Customer Payments is to improve the efficiency of the payment system that enables millions of journeys every day to take place across London's transport network, whilst maintaining our high level of customer service. We make sure that our customers can make their journeys knowing that they can trust us to always charge them the right fare for their journey and deliver the very best customer experience.
Our work includes:
- Ensuring we collect TfL's c.£5bn (pre-Covid) of revenue each year
- Managing, improving and procuring the Revenue Collection Contract that underpins TfL's Revenue Collection system
- Delivering improvements and changes to the way customers pay for their travel e.g. improving the Oyster ticketing solution and introducing, developing and expanding our Contactless payments system.
- Managing and developing TfL's concessionary and free travel schemes
- Providing fares policy advice to the Mayor
- Predicting and monitoring demand trends
The successful Payments Product Manager will focus on any number of the first four of these outcomes.

There is never a dull day in the Payments Product Management team. At any one time you will be leading a number of different initiatives and will have to continually adjust to the stream of new challenges. You will need to be able to manage your own workload and matrix manage other resources working with you. You'll need to prioritise activities and speak up when you need support from the team.
You will be working with Senior Product Managers, our internal teams, suppliers and partners, demonstrating exceptional stakeholder management skills, sponsoring workstreams, defining business solutions and implementing the end-to-end roadmaps of TfL's payment products, proactively identifying and resolving issues before they arise.
You will be a strategic thinker and be able to demonstrate both analytical and financial skills to develop proposals and business cases to support the implementation of effective business solutions. You will be an engaging presenter and have the ability to share complex information in a clear, simple and persuasive manner to both peers and senior management.

- Strong interpersonal skills including experience of case making and influencing at senior levels with positive effect. (E)

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to write clear, concise content for publication and presentations. (E)
- Experience of analysing a situation, carefully taking account of all pertinent factors and identifying an evidence-based solution (E)
- A strong track record of success in a business orientated Product Manager (or similar) role (D)
- The ability to define and implement product development strategies and product roadmaps (D)
- Experience of leading the development of products to meet business needs. (D)
- Knowledge of Strategy development and Investment methods and the understanding of the information required to align portfolios to business goals. (D)
- Strong modelling, analysis, and research skills. You'll have the ability to translate complex sources of information into clear concepts that inform decision-making. This should include defining total cost of ownership, whole life product costing and return on investment indicators. (D)
- An understanding of transport related fares, payments, and smart ticketing (D)
