We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Server Engineer to join our wider National IT Department within Aldi.

- Provide application support expertise to other National IT teams
- Manage and configure backup environments. Schedule and maintain backup tape rotation with 3rd party vendor
- Troubleshoot failed backups. Investigate if restores are required, and perform file and server restores from backups for end users
- Manage and configure Citrix environment and applications. Troubleshoot all issues with Citrix related applications and servers
- Manage and configure Exchange environment and applications. Troubleshoot all issues with Exchange related applications and servers
- Provide relevant monitoring information to other teams regarding server resources
- Perform monthly server patch schedules and reboots. Ensure Regional users reboot servers as required and troubleshoot failed server reboots
- Investigate permissions requirements and advise on permissions required to achieve various goals
- Maintain an understanding of the user requirements and open issues for area of responsibilities. Provide feedback on whether requested infrastructure requirements are possible
- Revise policies and procedures, and develop ways of improving them
- Create scripts as required to produce reports or refine processes
- Create and execute rollout plans in conjunction with International IT, Regions and external suppliers as needed
- Advise users on best practices and how-to of Windows Server operating system features to other National IT Teams, and provide basic training if required
- Perform system maintenance/support which will occasionally fall outside of normal business hours
About You- Have good overall technical ability

- Be keen to take ownership and responsibility while working effectively within a team
- Be logical and efficient, with a keen attention to detail
- Extensive experience in designing complex on-premises and hybrid-cloud infrastructure
- Expert knowledge in the areas of compute, storage, and network
- Passion and enthusiasm for new and established technologies
- Good networker with the skills to tailor your communication to your target group
- Strong communication skills in general paired with a high level of persuasiveness, and an intercultural understanding
- Experienced in using an ITSM solution (preferably ServiceNow)
- Experience with the following; VMware, Windows Server, Veeam, Exchange, Citrix and Powershell
- Hold a valid UK driving licence
