As a Product Manager for Times Editorial Tooling you will lead a cross-functional development team responsible for planning and authoring capabilities in the Times Media newsrooms. This includes working closely with the Newsroom Product Editor, the Newsroom Workflow Editor, and other key stakeholders to establish and deliver a product roadmap for our planning tool (DeskNet) and WordPress CMS (NewsPress). Your successful collaboration with users, engineering experts and dependent teams will help News UK Technology power some of the UK's leading journalism.
Day to day you will:
be responsible for the product strategy and roadmap for the planning and authoring streams of Times Editorial Tooling, which require engagement with editorial teams and deep understanding of business and product strategy;
work closely with newsroom leaders and users to identify opportunities and goals for our tooling, providing them with insight and expertise to help guide decision making and product roadmap;
lead a cross-functional agile team of engineers, UX and delivery experts, to experiment, iterate and prioritise the roadmap based on business value and measurable goals agreed on with key stakeholders;
provide a clear articulation of the product vision, features and functionality to stakeholders and the wider organisation to get buy-in;
Build relationships within the newsroom, bedded in with the journalists using the tools every day. You understand their pain points and challenges and can translate them into impactful solutions;
build out metrics to measure the value and impact of our tools, and use them to drive decision making and aid communication;
active championing of the tooling, providing training and guidance, troubleshooting, and ongoing relationship management with key stakeholders and users. To contribute to the digital-first transformation in the Times Media newsrooms through
What we're looking for from you:
An experienced product manager with a highly collaborative approach to product development, skilled in working with stakeholders to make sure you are constantly driving value for them and aligning with their strategic roadmaps.
Comprehensive understanding of the news / publishing industry through either working directly in Editorial or alongside Editorial in a technology capacity
Adept at leading a collaborative, cross-functional team, inspiring them to consistently deliver quality products with speed and creativity.
Strong at prioritisation with a track record of keeping teams focused on what delivers most value.
Strong negotiation, organisational and facilitation skills. An excellent presenter with exemplary outcome-based meeting skills.
