Our Data Engineers work as part of multidisciplinary teams to develop and deliver proactive, innovative and insightful data products and services, using agile philosophies and cloud technologies.
You'll adapt to DWP's Data Architecture and Data Engineering principles and standards. You make sure the systems we develop are fit for purpose, and play an active role in code development for delivery of our brilliant data products.
The work you do, and the services you help build and modernise, will change how DWP works and tangibly improve the outcomes for millions of citizens across the country.
You'll also be an active member of the wider DWP Data practice. You'll help us grow, finding improvements and sharing your knowledge and experience with the rest of our community.
We need you to be at the top of your game, so we're committed to helping you develop your skills with leading and emerging technologies, on the job and through training.
You'll have chance to work towards certifications, access self-development platforms and get coaching/mentoring from an expert network of data professionals.
What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?
Experience in building and deploying efficient, scalable, automated ETL/ELT pipelines
An understanding of designing and developing data products and services on public cloud - AWS/Azure/GCP
Experience of one or more Programming Languages - eg SQL, Python
Awareness of data modelling and data storage design concepts to enable performant loading and querying of data to support different access patterns
Experience of distributed version control tools, and awareness of modern code deployment methods (CI/CD)Details. Wages. Perks.
You'll join us in our brilliant digital hubs located in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield.
We also have all the tools and tech we need to enable our people to work flexibly. We work a hybrid model - expect to be in the office 40% of the time, with the rest home working.
