E-Trading Java Developer

As a Barclays E-Trading Java Developer, you will be performing activities related to the development, unit testing, deployment, support and maintenance of an in-house electronic trading application used by the Fixed Income Rates business. You will be accountable for ensuring the smooth running of the platform and liaising with different teams across Barclays as required.

What will you be doing?
• Helping to define the overall target architecture
• Engaging in detailed technical discussions with other senior developers
• Engaging with trading, product teams and partnering with first-line support teams
• Working with the Business to analyse requirements for system implementation
• Developing requirements which includes making the necessary changes in the internal adapters as well as the vendor system
• Providing inventive and novel solutions to business issues within short timescales
• Maintaining and enforcing project standards ensuring they are adhered to
• Maintaining a commitment to a global code base ensuring other regions are kept informed of breaking changes
What we're looking for:
• Engineering or Computer Science Graduate with proven skills in Object Oriented Analysis and Design Concepts utilising core Java knowledge
• Knowledge and experience of Relational Databases (e.g. Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server)
• Communicating, both written or orally, with technology stakeholders at peer and adjacent organisational levels
• Knowledge and experience of software development and collaboration tooling including Git, BitBucket, Confluence, JIRA, etc
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Understanding, implementing and influencing complex problems and solutions with an analytical approach to root cause identification and pro-active design improvement
• Knowledge of Kafka and working on UNIX platforms
• Utilising Agile Development methodologies, Test Driven Development and Continuous Delivery
