About The Role
Team – Data Engineering & BI
Working Pattern - Hybrid – 2 days per week in the Vitality Bournemouth Office. Full time, 35 hours per week.
What this role is all about:
Maintaining Vitality’s data assets is a critical function that helps to improve the way choices are made and customers are served. Vitality relies on its data assets to engineer new products, improve current products, and create better ways of providing value to customers.
You will lead and manage activities relating to collation, interpretation and mapping of business requirements to existing data structures, and identify gaps.
Data analysis is a core component of the role, where reconciliations & summarisations are required to assist with interpretation and the enhancement of business understanding.
Key Actions
Define and document analytics and reporting data requirements & user stories for new data and reporting assets across the Data & Information Services department. This is including BI, Data Engineering and Machine Learning functions.
Assess impacts and validate changes to existing assets.
Gathering requirements is key to the role, and will entail using multiple methods such as brainstorming, requirement workshops and focus groups. All requirements will need to be validated and thoroughly documented. Monitoring and amending requirements over time will be important to ensure deliverables match the changing nature of business needs.
Engage and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the business across Vitality group; to take on projects and deliverables from inception to completion. Multiple projects and deliverables will be ongoing concurrently; the capability to prioritise effort & resource will be required.
Get hands-on with testing and production proving to ensure deliverables meet the business need & cover off all requirements submitted. This will include presentations and show & tells sessions.
Full responsibility for set-up, oversight, monitoring and issue resolution of automated report delivery. This will include monthly scheduled reports and ad-hoc outputs.
1st line support for data queries, incorporating triaging of tickets raised and data investigations work to establish cause & extent of issues identified.
Quickly develop a robust working understanding and insight into the Vitality business, data and analytics community to ensure changes are managed appropriately and effectively.Essential Skills needed to fulfil this role:
Enhanced experience in data management or business intelligence with a working knowledge of requirements analysis best practise and the systems development life cycle
Ability to interpret internal or external requirements & issues and recommends solutions
Prior technical experience on data profiling and data analysis using sql technology (e.g. Microsoft, Oracle)
Advanced Excel knowledge, including macros, pivots, complex formula, graphical summarisation & reporting.
Excellent investigative, analytical and logical problem solving skills
Good facilitation skills and experience working with a broad set of stakeholders/partners in Business and ITSo, what’s in it for you?
