The difference you will make as a Business Architect:
This is an exciting, highly visible and strategic role to lead ideation and strategic alignment within a business area that forms part of strategic transformation portfolio, with a remit to help us strategise, problem solve, innovate and co-design solutions with users, for users.
Reporting to the Head of Business Design, as part of the Business Transformation department within the CIO directorate, the role holder will play an integral role in supporting the delivery of an expansive user-centric portfolio of initiatives, which covers every aspect of our service offer. Our transformation agenda covers broad and complex system integration projects, as well as initiatives that help to modernise TRG and deliver value to our customers and colleagues. Part of the Business Design teams role will be to help strike the balance between people, process and technology change, with value driven outputs at the centre of our work.
An integral part of the role of Business Design is to assess existing (customer and colleague) experiences, determine opportunities to address issues within them, and co-design and validate requirements and solutions with users. For this reason, there is an important expectation that our Head of Business Design will be a strong and influential
communicator, be a passionate customer advocate, have exemplary problem-solving skills and have an ability to humanise our change in a way that all can understand and embrace it.
Another important aspect of this role is to support defined business areas and establish the current operating environment and business challenges, identifying opportunities for improvement and provide technical insight to support the Group’s strategic objectives and target and transitional operating models. To also support the process to prioritise any improvements and facilitate the production of clear change requirements.
The role will have up to 4 direct reports, and form part of an overall team consisting of 21 specialist design colleagues.
About You
We are looking for someone with:
In-depth knowledge (and experience) of business architecture methodology and development.
Experience of project management, preferably with an understanding of definition, inception and design methods
and techniques.
Experience of operating and leading CX/UX/TX design methodologies, including personas, journey mapping, value
stream mapping, prototyping and user validation techniques
Experience of project management, business analysis and design
Role Requirements
Identify and prioritise the change requirements for the agreed business area, providing expertise and support in the production of the key outputs required for the concept definition and benefits realisation phases of the project lifecycle (clear scope, high level requirements, business cases, high level impacts, benefits, costs and timescales) and provide ongoing support throughout the project lifecycle.
Input to the portfolio management process and support to the cross-organisational prioritisation of changes to ensure alignment to and delivery of the Group’s strategic objectives.
Provide timely and relevant updates on the portfolio to the agreed business area, focusing on business outcomes and benefits realisation, to promote effective communications and a shared understanding of the Group’s priorities and overall change portfolio.
Contribute to the development, implementation, maintenance and review of Group target and transitional operating models, ensuring full representation of the agreed business area, ensuring alignment with, and supporting the delivery of the Group’s strategic objectives.
Act as the main point of contact for the agreed business area in relation to the Group’s operating model, dealing with all new requirements for change, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, facilitating escalated design issues and change requests, ensuring that all projects incepted are aligned to the overall operating model.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of the architecture and design methodology, ensuring it is clearly communicated to key stakeholders, including those within the agreed business area.
Manage stakeholders effectively including the agreed business area, Human Resources and Information Technology colleagues, and influencing, negotiating and building constructive working relationships to deliver business strategy; shape the portfolio of projects and deliver an integrated suite of operational designs for your business area.
Support continuous improvement through routine and bespoke analysis, including feedback from stakeholders and identification of risks, to identify opportunities for improvement.
Ensure that all information security requirements, including data protection, are met in accordance with the Group’s policy, procedures and statutory requirements.
Ensure that health and safety requirements are met in accordance with the Group’s policy, procedures and statutory requirements.
Respond flexibly to any necessary changes in work priorities and undertake other duties when required to support the effective operation of the service.
Providing thought leadership to build a high-value business design function
Manage the performance and development of the TX Designers and Business Design Analysts, providing expertise
and coaching as required, ensuring a quality service is provided and ensuring under performance is dealt with appropriately.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential

Experience of IT and Enterprise Architecture
Extensive experience of business case creation
Experience of delivering a change within a complex, multi-site organisation.
Proven track record of analysing and interpreting data including financial information and business cases.
Effective stakeholder management with experience of working in partnership with the business and the ability to
successfully persuade and influence others.
Customer focused with excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work at all levels within
the business.
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work accurately under pressure, deliver to strict deadlines and
manage conflicting priorities.
Commercially aware with a focus on continuous improvement.
