The Opportunity This is your chance to defend the UK Parliament from malicious cyber activities. Using state-of-the-art technologies and security tools, you'll lead our Response and Monitoring team at the Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC). Guiding this highly-skilled digital team in their protective monitoring and incident-response activities, you'll anticipate and mitigate issues before they arise - and if an incident does occur, you'll keep the team calm and focused as they tackle the problem.
With an interesting array of projects to work on, it will be your job to evaluate the service that we are currently offering (including using penetration testing to identify vulnerabilities) and put measures in place to improve this wherever relevant. As an inspirational leader, you'll also:
- Provide a technical and management escalation point, finding solutions for the technical response and monitoring staff.
- Communicate with a broad range of senior stakeholders and be responsible for defining the vision, principles and strategy for incident response.
- Review high-priority or high-complexity analysis of security event data to manage security incident response, making key decisions and advising senior stakeholders.
- Lead organisational incident response exercises. This will include coordinating initiatives in both Houses.
- Contribute to the organisation's response policies and processes to meet the needs in line with appropriate standards and frameworks.
- Have access to a range of training platforms for continuous learning and development, and the opportunity to shape training needs for the team.
What You NeedThis is a great opportunity to join a friendly and collaborative team who place great value on working together to deliver exceptional results. To be equal to the challenge, you will need to have:
- The ability to lead a Security Operations Centre (SOC), developing and inspiring staff, strategy development for incident response and monitoring functions, implementing roadmaps and planning prioritising work.
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills, with a 'hands-on', problem solving approach whilst being able to remain calm under pressure and take control of incidents.
- The ability to use analytical and investigative techniques including intelligence analysis, predictive research, root cause analysis and vulnerability report analysis
- Exceptional influencing and communication skills
