IT Support Officer Permanent, Full Time £30,378.00 - 34,569.00 including London Weighting Allowance United Colleges Group, formed in 2017, has continued to provide strong education and skills support to the 16,000 learners who we serve every year. We have around 1,000 dedicated, skilled and enthusiastic staff who always put the needs of our students first and we are now looking for a number of IT Support Officers to join our cohort of dedicated staff.
The IT Support Officer will provide quality education for all and be part of a professional, customer focussed, responsive and effective team that provides 1 st and 2 nd line technical support and maintenance services to all users of the Groups IT systems.
The IT Support Officer will assist with the installation, administration, operation and maintenance of the administrative and teaching IT infrastructure and to perform other appropriate duties as directed by the departmental management team. The IT Support Officer's responsibilities also include; supporting the users in meeting the operational IT needs of the business and assisting in the deployment and configuration of new equipment and the fault finding and repair of broken equipment.
The successful applicant will be expected to take the lead in the management of the Groups Apple Mac devices, including Active Directory integration and OS and applications software installation and updating using appropriate management tool (e.g JAMF)
The IT Support Officer will have;
- Qualifications in disciplines relevant to Computing or Electronics at Higher National level or equivalent and/or extensive practical experience in the support or desktop, server and networking environments
- MAC Specialist- must have practical experience in the support and management of Apple Mac devices
- Proven practical experience of;
- Upgrading (installing components in) PC's/Servers
- Diagnosis and resolution of hardware and software faults
- Installing and configuring application software
- Installation, use and support of Windows 10
- Administration of Windows Server 2012 (or later)
- The ability to communicate well with staff at all levels and to provide (limited) training to staff at technical or non-technical level
- Practical experience in the use of a helpdesk to manage and prioritise calls, and in the use of remote desktop management tools.
- The ability to work independently and also as part of a team effectively and flexibly and to be able to organise own time and workload effectively
