Job Description:HPE is offering Software Engineering Internships in Bristol, UK. This program allows students to gain real-world work experience in their academic field. HPE interns will partner with some of the most talented and experienced professionals in the high performance computer industry who help our customers solve the most demanding, most crucial computing problems. Interns will engage in challenging projects evolving around future generation supercomputers allowing them to stretch their skills and enrich their knowledge base to achieve a greater understanding of their area of interest, a better appreciation of their supercomputing industry and hopefully, the desire to return as a professional member of the HPE team.
The successful candidate will be working with a team of software developers and system architects based in Bristol, UK providing advanced capabilities for evaluating future system architectures. This individual will work with members of the HPE Slingshot Architecture Team in helping to define aspects of next generation extreme scale high performance computing systems for both High Performance Computing (HPC), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Enterprise products.
What you'll do:• Research and development of simulation models for future system architectures.
• Design and implementation of analysis and visualization tools.
• Analysis of performance, scalability and fault tolerance properties of these architectures.
• A strong emphasis on using software engineering techniques to deliver reliable and performant results.
• Working with emerging technologies in cloud computing and the high performance data center.
Location:What you'll need:• Pursuing degree level or post-grad qualification in computer science or a related area, demonstrating strong academic achievement.
• Experience of computer architecture, distributed systems and networks preferred.
• Experience of development C / C++ on a Linux/Unix platform.
• Understanding of Linux networking, network protocols and Ethernet.
• Effective communication skills in written reports and verbal presentations.
• Self-discipline with work organization and time management
