Our Team operates within the ZeroTrust Security Group, which develops and maintains cutting-edge security solutions for Akamai enterprise customers. In close collaboration with Development, Product, Support, and Sales Engineering teams, our primary mission is to enable the business to produce high-quality and secure products, enhance the security features of our products and ensure robust protection for our customers.

You will be a technical specialist, leading a team dedicated to evolving our products. Enabling them to be sold to highly secured organizations. Focusing on the FedRAMP program and other similar standards.

As a Software Engineer Principal, you will be responsible for:
- Designing and executing secure network architectures for both new and existing products.
- Collaborating closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective solutions.
- Developing and maintaining comprehensive security guidelines, procedures, and standards that can be implemented consistently across the product.
- Reviewing code written in multiple programming languages, including C, C++, Python, and Go, and establish standards and processes to enhance the quality of secure code.
- Evaluating and recommending network and security technologies that align with industry best practices and regulatory standards.
- Identifying & mitigating network/security risks, suggest appropriate remedies in current product architecture/implementation.
Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Have over 10 years of professional experience in network engineering and security roles.
- Demonstrate command of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
- Have extensive expertise in VPNs, virtualized appliances, cloud infrastructures, and identity/access protocols/software.
- Be expert in one or more programming languages like C, C++, Python, and Go.
- Have deep security understanding: standards, frameworks, best practices; NIST, FedRAMP preference.
