SAP Project Accountant required to join a dynamic, friendly team.

Initial 6-month contract.

Hybrid role. On site 3 days per week in Belfast.

£400 per day (inside IR35)

Production of accurate and timely project financial information, ensuring robust financial controls, maximum efficiency of processes and reporting, and strong corporate governance in line with group requirements. Finance business partner to the Project and Commercial teams.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES OR MAIN TASKS

Business related:

Work with the Finance Manager, Project Managers and Commercial Managers in improving and maintaining the processes used to operate and control project financial performance.

Finance related:

* Responsible for the timely and accurate recording, preparation and presentation of project financial information.

* Responsible for the completeness and accuracy of all financial information presented at the Quarterly, Monthly or Weekly Project reviews.

* Provide all the necessary financial requirements in a professional and timeous manner.

* Provide ongoing financial advice and support to the Project Managers and their team.

* Responsible for ensuring that costs to complete and their assumptions are properly supported and disclosed. Ensure that project financial forecasts are aligned with project programmes.

* Ensure that projects operate an appropriate and effective set of financial controls complaint with the requirements.

* Ensure that project risks and opportunities, mitigation plans and savings plans are properly calculated and disclosed at the project reviews.

* Maintain effective systems and processes to enable the accurate recording of all project costs including contract and subcontractor accruals, outstanding purchase orders, GRNI, timesheet bookings, WBS and coding notifications etc.

* Maintain the actual, budget, and forecast financials for appropriate overhead costs centres.

* Ensure that the projects adhere to an appropriate WBS structure and costs budget. Provide project variance analysis where appropriate.

* Ensure that project cash flow is managed in the best interest of the business.

* Ensure that adherence to financial accounting and commercial governance is maintained by the project’s teams.

* Provide information to the Internal and External Auditors for projects as and when required.

* To undertake any other duties as and when necessary to meet the varying demands of the business and satisfy customer needs.

Performance criteria

* Timely production of financial project review reports, monthly project financial commentaries, budgets, and forecasts.

* Ensure project financial results, risks and opportunities are critically reviewed and challenged.

* Ensure that project financial controls for the business are effective, reliable and adhered to.

* Compliance with external legislation and government authorities.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

* Qualified Accountant or qualified by experience.

* Strong business/process analysis skills.

* Excellent influencing and communication skills at all levels.

* Project accounting experience.

* Experience of working with Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors.

Ideal:

* Previous experience in engineering or construction industry.
